What are you looking for in a User Advocate?

  • We WANT people who provide constructive feedback that is actionable for business owners. If you say good or bad, state your reasons and substantiate with your experience!
  • It will be best if you could include suggestions on what will be good for you.

To be a mobile tester, you will need Smartphone/Tablet/Phablet, data connection, and wifi. Otherwise, you will need access to a desktop/laptop computer, microphone (built in or accessory), and internet connection.

What do I do as a User Advocate?

You will need to do a one-time installation of UXArmy's testing software to your device, then follow directions to complete the test when you are invited to take the test. Each test will come with clear and easy to follow instructions on what you need to do. For Mobile App and Task based tests, your screen will be recorded for as you do the test; so, make sure you don't access any confidential information while you do the test. Once done, submit your test. A complete submission requires screen recording upload to UXArmy server which will automatically happen when, and only when, you connect to wifi. (This is to ensure we don't eat into your mobile data 3G/4G limit.)

What am I being paid for?

We pay you to complete a test, and send us your written test comments along with required recordings. Screen recording is required for most tests, voice recording for some. Test instruction will tell you what's required.

Simpler tests will be paid less. If you are selected for in-depth usability research, you will be paid much more. Make sure to keep your profile accurately updated if you want to be considered for in-depth usability research, which would include a face-to-face interview.

How do I get paid?

We pay our user advocates via PayPal, and use other electronic means such as e-gift, Alipay mainly in countries where PayPal is not widely used. You will receive your payment within 7 days after completing a website or app test. (This waiting period allows us to ensure the quality of your recording). A test is considered complete only once your screen recording is uploaded, so make sure you connect to wifi after you complete the test.

How do you prevent people from creating multiple accounts?

We have in place algorithms that check on feedback from the UXArmy User Advocates panel and ensure that feedback benefits businesses. Also, validations are also in place to ensure that one does not create multiple accounts to earn as much credit without giving additional value to businesses. Dishonesty in providing feedback may render your account being deactivated, banned, and credits forfeited if evidence has been validated by our management team.
